ACCELERATE! is the theme for the Elim Singles National Conference 2010.

2. What is the conference all about?

This conference will not only provide a venue for the Elim Singles to gather together nationally as a ministry, but will also challenge the participants to step up their stewardship in every area of their life as inspired by Philippians 3:12, 14 — “I am racing to grasp the prize...life on high in Christ Jesus.”

Of course, it goes without saying — it will be one fun-packed weekend that will surely make the best of memories. Three days, white sand beaches and great company.

3. Who Can Attend?

All single adults ages 20 and above.

4. What is the Elim Singles?

The Elim Singles Ministry is made up of single adults (non-high school or college students and unmarried, 20 years old and up) who are a part of Elim Communities. It is a ministry of generosity, dedicated to building up the singles of Elim, spreading the Good News to fellow singles and helping fund the needs of Elim Communities.

Elim Communities is a global family of Catholic communities serving in faith, hope and love.

6. Are non-catholic singles welcome?

Of course! Elim is a Catholic Covenanted Community, but we welcome those who would like to worship and pursue the Lord with us.

7. How much is the registration fee?

Early Registration: P3,350 (Nov 24, 2009-Feb 28, 2010) Conference Fee: P4,000 (Mar 1-Apr 2, 2010)

8. What is included in the registration fee?

You’ve got a great deal right here! Your registration fee includes the opening party dinner at the quaint Café Lawis as well as selected meals for the conference including lunches, snacks, entertainment night dinner at Bohol Beach Club, conference shuttle fees, and the use of resort facilities for the duration of the conference at Bohol Beach Club.

9. What is not included with the fee?

Your round trip ticket to Bohol is not included in the conference registration fee. You'll also have to make your own lodging arrangements. Please feel free to contact us for any inquiry regarding lodging. We're more than willing to help.

10. When and where exactly is the start of the conference?

Registration starts at Café Lawis at 5 pm on April 23. The conference officially kicks off with a fun dinner party for all the delegates.

11. Where’s Café Lawis?

Café Lawis is in Dauis, Bohol. It’s a Cafe situated beside Dauis Church. It’s at the ground floor of the church convent beside a beautiful bay with a great view!

12. Where and what’s Dauis?

Dauis is an old, picturesque and historic town on Panglao island. This place is known for the famous Dauis Church.

13. When are we going to Bohol Beach Club?

Conference events on April 24-25 (Saturday and Sunday) will be held at the Bohol Beach Club, on Panglao Island. Be there by 8 am on April 24 (Saturday).

14. Do we have to pay extra for shuttle fares?

Shuttle fares are part of your registration fee. Shuttles will go to and from Rizal Plaza across St Joseph Cathedral in Tagbilaran, Dauis (Café Lawis) and Panglao (Bohol Beach Club) before and after the conference proper.

15. It’s my first time in Bohol. What are the specialties there?

Here are some:

  • Peanut Kisses – Shaped like Hershey’s Kisses, these are a peanut-based snack. They are also a playful take on the shape of the Chocolate Hills.
  • Calamay – A sweet jam-like treat. Its packaging is unique as it utilizes natural coconut shells instead of regular bottles.
  • Broas – Soft cookies that are great with hot coffee, chocolate or milk.
  • Calamay – they say that the sweetest honey in the Philippine Islands is produced at Bohol Bee Farm.
You can purchase these at department stores, at the airport or at the pier.

16. Are there any malls in Bohol?

Bohol has three major malls, all located in Tagbilaran City: Island City Mall, Bohol Quality Mall and Plaza Marcela. Besides these three, there are a number of smaller department stores, such as Alturas Supermarket and Shoppers Mart.

17. What is the dialect used in Bohol?

Locals generally speak Cebuano or the similar Boholano. But most people also speak English and Tagalog.

18. It’s my first time in Bohol. Is there going to be a shuttle from the pier or airport, before and after the conference?

No. You’ll be getting to and from your lodging place and the pier or airport on your own. You can visit elimglobal.org/singles for more information on how to get around Bohol.
(But usually, getting a cab gets the job done).

19. What if I want to go visit the Chocolate Hills? Or try out the Loboc River Cruise? Are there free rides available?

No. You’ll need to get in touch with groups who handle these tours and activities on your own. But, a list can be found at the Accelerate booth and the website.

20. What about transportation?

There are air-conditioned taxis in Tagbilaran City that can take you to any point in Bohol. You can easily hail one or call a taxi company. Other commuter options include motorcycles, tricycles, multicabs, jeepneys, mini buses and buses.
